Best Jewellery Lathe

Can anyone suggest a lathe for working in Gold and Silver? I`m working with 2mm wire and need to get the centre for gem setting. I bought a cheap Lathe of Ebay which was utter rubbish. I`ve got a budget of about £1000 but obviously the cheaper the better. I need to streamline my work and would really appreciate some advise.
