WW Headstock & Bed [WW_HB_1]

low in stock! Sold
This is a standard WW (Webster-Whitcomb) single pedestal (12" long) bed with a 50mm centre height headstock

It is almost certainly of German manufacture. The wooden base is marked 'Paulson" who distributed lathes in the USA made by Leinen in Germany. It also has some strong characteristics which indicate that it could be quite an early Wolf Jahn lathe.

The headstock looks like the spindle was originally fitted with an integral mandrel faceplate which has since been removed. A machined adaptor has been added probably to fit a chuck.

The 4-step drive pulley is in good condition with just a surface chip (flake) on the largest diameter flange which does not affect its use. The drive pulley has an indexing ring drilled for 12 / 60 divisions.

As there is a reasonable bulk of material at the end of the spindle it has potential uses as a dedicated headstock for mounting a chuck or perhaps the fitting of wheel adaptors for polishing or grinding work.
